The head of Khakassia Victor Zimin has removed from elections of the Governor of the region, told RIA Novosti Deputy head of the Central electoral Commission Nikolay Bulaev.

The Chairman of the national electoral Committee Alexander Koumanin, in turn, explained that the acting head of the region refused to participate in the second round for health reasons.

The CEC head Ella Pamfilova has suggested that the reason for withdrawal could be a realistic assessment of a candidate of their capabilities.

Zimin has headed the Republic since 2009.

The second round

According to bulaeva, the second round of elections will take place «in two weeks». Deputy head of the CEC also said that the second round will participate Valentin Konovalov from the Communist party and the candidate from «Fair Russia» Andrey Filyagin, who took third place in the first round.

The first round of elections in the Republic of Khakassia was held in a single voting day on the ninth of September. None of the candidates could gain more than 50 percent. The candidate from «United Russia» Zimin scored more than 32 percent of the vote, losing to Konovalov, who received almost 45 percent of the vote. The second round was scheduled for 23 September.

As noted Pamfilova, additional funds for a second round in connection with the postponement of the date for two weeks is not required. The CEC also added that the gubernatorial elections will be held on the seventh of October, if Filegen write a statement of their consent to participate in the second round. The candidate from «Fair Russia» has already announced that he intends to participate and expects to win.
