. Soldier’s everyday life, peasant Venus, the painting, which contemporaries considered «ugly» — in the New Tretyakov gallery on the Crimean Val opened the first retrospective of Mikhail Larionov. RIA Novosti talked with the curators of the exhibition Eugenia Illinoi and Irina Vakar and learned what the world is made by the outstanding Russian avant-garde.

Provincial sketches Larionov absolutely not perceived by the audience of the time. Fences, miserable street, where pigs roam, a café, a gathering of local «dudes», — the artist has treated it with a great sense of humor, parodying something even formal portraits of his teacher Serov.

After College, the artist was sent for military service. Unlike many other artists, had been in the army, Larionov did not consider those years lost. On the contrary, he is a soldier’s life was interesting.

Larionov very quickly changed as an artist. That is why the current exhibition is extremely diverse. From the first exhibitions he attracted the attention of the audience and the critics with their skills.

Soon his work began to buy collectors, in 1907 the first painting acquired the Tretyakov gallery. Many colleagues only dreamed to get to this Museum, and Larionov was already in the collection.

Most of the early work of Larionov wrote at home — in your favorite Tiraspol. House outbuilding converted into a Studio, the door was removed and directly attached on her canvases — that’s why many oil paintings have long endured without subframes.
