The constitutional court of Moldova suspended Igor Dodon from the duties of the President.

«Acknowledges the circumstances that justify suspension of the President from office because of his refusal to appoint Ministers, who re-suggested the Prime Minister», — said the President of the court, Mihai Poalelungi.

In September, Prime Minister Pavel Filip suggested Dodona the appointment of two new Ministers. Minister of health, labour and social protection was planned to appoint Sylvia Rada, the Minister of agriculture and regional development — Nicholas Shank. However, he opposed those candidates.

The President said that Parliament has no medical training, to give him something he has questions «in the field of integrity».

According to the Constitution of Moldova, the President has the right to reject a proposed Prime Minister candidates. With repeated failure it could be suspended from office, to the decree on the appointment of heads of ministries could be signed by the head of the Parliament or the Prime Minister.

Dodon three were suspended from duties and two times it was due to the refusal to approve the nominations of Ministers — in October 2017 and January 2018, when he twice rejected the candidates proposed by the government. Decrees appointing the new Ministers were both signed by the speaker of Parliament Andrian CANDU.

The confrontation of the President of Moldova with the government continues. The main dispute remains foreign policy: the President insists on rapprochement with Russia, while the parliamentary majority and appointed by the government leaning towards the West. Dodon is blocking initiative of Pro-European authorities, and the President’s proposals do not find support among the deputies.
