The cost of Russian grain may be the lowest in the world, said RIA Novosti Deputy Chairman of the Duma Committee on agrarian issues Airat Khairullin.

The publication notes that the competitive pressure from increasing in Russia at a time when the U.S. is the mass closure of farms since the 1980-ies.

«We have the cheapest and one of the most fertile land in the world, and created a very powerful cluster of production of mineral fertilizers. If we increase the volume of grain production in the country and the consumption of their mineral fertilizers, the cost of Russian grain will be the lowest in the world due to climatic factors and soil quality», — he said.

Resources of the Russian arable land over time will allow you to feed 1.3 billion people around the world all kinds of food, said the Deputy. «One job in agriculture provides, according to various estimates, more than 50 jobs in related industries. Therefore, the Russian Federation will continue to support the development of agriculture», — says the Chairman of the Committee.

«With the right policies of the Russian state in the coming years we can create a very interesting situation in the global food market» — he believes. Of course, according to him, the markets are not unlimited, and the production volume of Russian grain will outpace the growth of the world population. The Khairullin noticed that in Russia the level of agricultural support per hectare of arable land, 33 times less than in Europe. «If a little bit more to the state to increase support to agriculture, all told, will happen faster», — said the MP.

Russia ranked first in the world on export deliveries of wheat in the 2015-2016 marketing year (from 1 July 2015 to 30 June 2016), but next season it is this place is lost. But a record harvest in 2017 (135,4 million tons of grain) has allowed Russia to sharply increase exports and regain first place. Grain exports from Russia in 2017-2018 marketing year totaled 52,422 million tons, including 40,449 million tons of wheat.
