Development strategy of the forest complex of the Russian Federation up to 2030 envisages the development of high-tech forest industry in the Russian Federation and aimed at preserving the country’s forests, said Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

«A few words about the document that I signed, is the strategy of forest sector development till 2030. The document sets out priorities: first, the need to protect forests, to protect them from fires and other adverse factors, to establish a system recovery – this is probably the most important thing,» — said Medvedev at a meeting with Deputy Prime Ministers on Monday.

He noted that on the territory of Russia is growing more than 20% of all forests, but deforestation is very active. He recalled that not so long ago a law was passed that establishes the rule: cut down a hectare — hectare restored. For violation of this policy will face administrative responsibility, the Premier said.

«Secondly, the strategy laid mechanisms to create a modern high-tech forest industry. You need to focus on deep processing of timber to the domestic market, for export received furniture and cardboard, paper and construction materials, chemical products on the basis of wood chemistry, and not just round timber, as it very often happens,» — said Medvedev.

According to him, by 2030, in line with the strategy needs to be a group of competitive industries.
