. Diet conducive to the discharge of excess pounds and keeping pressure in norm, proved to be safe for the health of the child and the mother, doctors say in an article published in the journal AJPM.

«Most residents of the U.S. who plan to have a child suffer from obesity and hypertension. The pregnancy gives them a unique opportunity to go on a healthy diet both during pregnancy and after it, and we must help them to realize such plans,» said Linda van horn (Linda van Horn) from northwestern University in Chicago (USA).

In recent years, scientists have begun to study how various aspects of life of expectant mothers, including their habits, diet and even mood, affect fetal development and predisposition of the child to various diseases and problems. For example, excess weight of the mother «programs» the offspring for its predisposition to obesity, and alcohol and tobacco changes the structure of the protein «packaging» of their DNA.

Such studies have revived interest in the question – can women to diet during pregnancy, and how it should be done? Van horn and her colleagues tried to find the answer to this question, observing the lives of three hundred pregnant women in the United States.

All of these expectant mothers, as scholars have noted, was suffering from two health issues – obesity and high blood pressure. Before pregnancy, many of them were dieting and taking various medications to combat hypertension, but after the part has refused this therapy.

The scientists decided to check on the observance or rejection of the diet and medicine will affect the lives of these women and fetal development. To this end, they installed it on the smartphones of those women who didn’t ditch the diet, a special program, which helped them not to go beyond the «calorie budget» and keep the pressure steady.

Periodically, the doctors conducted a survey among expectant mothers, measuring their weight, tracking the status of the fetus and taking blood samples. After birth, they compared the results of these measurements and tried to find the cons associated with diet.

As shown by these observations, the average weight of women who kept diet was 2-3 pounds less than the other member observations, abandoned such measures after pregnancy. Thus, according to van horn and her colleagues, they have not detected any differences in the mass of children, the proportion of fat in the body and in the frequency of complications during childbirth.

All this, as scientists believe, suggests that diets in General do not harm, but improve the body of women during pregnancy. Doctors hope that the dissemination and promotion of such programs to reduce weight and pressure will help to contain the spread of the obesity epidemic in the Land and will significantly reduce the likelihood of excess weight problems the new generations of children.
