Zharov has told about the fight against the proliferation of personal data of Russians

Roskomnadzor during the three years identified more than 1.2 thousand companies that uncontrollably spread on the Internet database of Russian citizens, 550 sites were blocked, said the head of Department Alexander Zharov at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

As told Zharov, on the topic of personal data protection, more than 5 million companies from around the world provide services to Russian citizens, offer them to buy goods and require to provide your personal information.

«The topic is very sensitive (personal data protection), we are watching. Hundred of thousands of companies get rather large amounts of personal data. We monitor and for the last three years revealed 1.2 thousand companies, slightly more that the Internet is absolutely uncontrolled distributed database of our citizens: information about the cars they belong to, passport data, data on housing. 690 sites this information is removed, the 550 we have had to block. «But it seems to me that blocking is not a panacea in this case. The most important is an information campaign, people should understand that such personal data. There is a popular expression that big data is the fuel of the digital economy. Therefore, the banking sector and the operators for these data chase», — said the head of Roskomnadzor.
