President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko expressed hope that the new Russian Ambassador in Minsk Mikhail Babich will give a new impetus to the development of cooperation between the two countries, required the powers of a diplomat, in the opinion of the Belarusian leader, there is.

Babich has replaced a post of the Ambassador in Belarus, Alexander Surikov, head of the Russian Embassy in Minsk for about 12 years. The President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin gave Babych status of special representative for trade and economic cooperation with Belarus. In early September, Babich handed over copies of his credentials to Minister of foreign Affairs of Belarus Vladimir Makei.
