Russian President Vladimir Putin greeted the participants and guests of the XX world Congress of Russian press, and noted the role of the press in shaping an objective image of Russia abroad, the corresponding telegram published on the Kremlin website.

The twenty-fourth of September in new York kicks off the XX world Congress of Russian press, which runs until September 27.

«Led by you publications, TV channels and radio stations are difficult, but it is very relevant work on the dissemination of truthful, comprehensive information about Russia, at formation of an objective image of our country abroad», — stated in the text of the telegram.

The President also noted that the Congress provides a good opportunity for a meaningful dialogue between the representatives of numerous Russian printed and electronic media operating in different countries of the world.

«In the current international situation it is important to be a responsible public position, strictly follow the principles of journalistic ethics, to firmly oppose any attempts to distort the facts to suit someone’s political or other interests, to maintain the trust of the multimillion Russian-speaking audience,» he said.

Putin expressed his confidence that members of Congress will thoroughly discuss current professional problems, exchange experience, as well as initiatives that will strengthen the position of Russian-speaking media in the world and development of international humanitarian cooperation.
