Hungary continues to block the meeting of the special Commission «Ukraine-NATO» at the Ministerial level, said Wednesday in a press-service of mission of Ukraine to NATO, the Agency UNN.

In the headquarters of NATO on 3-4 October 2018 will be held in the framework of the North Atlantic Council at the level of Ministers of defence.

«Now there is no agreement on holding of the Commission Ukraine-NATO at level of Ministers of defence. While the meeting was not expected… it’s No secret that Hungary has in recent time blocks of the meetings of the Commission Ukraine-NATO at Ambassador level above, so it is also associated with this», — said the press service.

Earlier, Ukraine and NATO are unable to hold a meeting of the joint Commission at the Ministerial level, as Hungary is blocking session because of disagreements with Kiev on language issues. The tension in relations between Ukraine and Hungary came on the background of discussions about the Ukrainian law on education, significantly reduces the possibility of education in minority languages. The Secretary General of the Alliance Jens Stoltenberg said earlier that NATO is in close contact with the leadership of Hungary and Ukraine to resolve differences between the two countries on the language issue.

The law on education in Ukraine, it significantly reduces the possibility of education in minority languages, entered into force on 28 September 2017. It will be introduced in stages until 2020. The governments of several countries, including Hungary and Romania, said that this law violates the rights of national minorities in Ukraine. In Moscow also believe that the education act violates the Constitution and international obligations of Kiev.
