Federation Council speaker Valentina Matviyenko has sent a personal letter to the head of the Norwegian Parliament, in which he called a provocation the arrest of an employee of the Federation Council Mikhail Bochkarev in Oslo.

«I sent a personal letter to the speaker of the Norwegian Parliament, which noted that it was pure provocation, no reason for the arrest of our employee,» said the Senator to journalists on Wednesday.

She stressed that the Ministry of foreign Affairs and parliaments will be taken all the effort to release Bochkarev. «If such a provocation was planned, it’s despicable. It does not paint and the structure of the EU, which organized the seminar,» — said Matvienko.

According to her, Russia will think, whether to continue to participate in such seminars.

On Monday, the Russian foreign Ministry declared a protest in connection with detention at the airport of Oslo and placed under arrest Bochkareva «on false charges of intelligence activities.» As reported by Norwegian media, the 51-year-old Russian participated in the seminar whose theme was the exchange of information, ideas and experiences between the parliaments of Europe.
