Mediterranean diet helps protect your mental health and facilitates the fight against depression. This was reported in a study published in the journal Molecular Psychiatry.

Scientists from University College London reviewed more than 40 studies on the relationship of nutrition and development of mental illness. It was found that the increase in the amount of vegetables and fruits in the diet reduces the risk of depression by 33 percent.

Also, experts have found that reducing the consumption of heavy foods such as meat, saturated fats and sugar, reduces feelings of depression, and depression is 24 percent.

Based on these data, the scientists chose a diet that was more consistent with the required for dealing with depression diet. In particular, the researchers recommend a Mediterranean diet based on fruits, vegetables and fish and also olives and cereals.
