The city Duma adopted the law on the support of Muscovites over the age of 50 years as part of the changes to pension legislation, the decision was taken during the meeting on Wednesday. According to the law, remain incentives for women 55 and older and men 60 years and older, the law also provides for new measures of social support for residents over the age of 50.

So there are benefits to free public transport (except taxi), manufacturing and repair of dentures (except material cost) women over 55 and men over 60 years. Women 55 years and men 60 years and older will be given the privilege, according to which these categories of citizens will help with relocation for renovation.

In addition, the residents who were awarded the title «labour Veteran» or «Veteran of military service» will pay only 50% of utilities and the cost of living in an apartment, receive a monthly compensation of expenses for telephone connection and monthly fee. Muscovites at the age from 50 years old will be free to pass medical examination, as well as professional training, professional development and training to develop additional knowledge and business skills in one of the city programs, to targeted social assistance.

The law also suggests the establishment of a special centre for training and employment of residents over the age of 50 years. Also the residents of Moscow at the age of 50 years are eligible to receive targeted social assistance in case of difficult life situations.

The state Duma in July passed in the first reading a government bill suggesting a gradual increase in age of retirement to 65 years for men and 63 years for women. However, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed several measures to mitigate the decision, announced in a televised address to the Russians. In particular, the President called for the age of retirement for women at age 60, early retirement for mothers of large families and the introduction of measures for the protection of persons close to retirement age, including raising unemployment benefits and the introduction of liability for employers for dismissal before retirement.
