Vakhitovsky Kazan district court arrested in absentia a native of Colombia, accused of stealing a suitcase with jewelry 133 million roubles from the inhabitant of Yakutia, who came to Kazan for a jewellery exhibition, the press service of the court.

In mid-July, the representative of the exhibition center «Kazanskaya Yarmarka» has told RIA Novosti that the Colombian stole diamonds worth more than 100 million roubles from the inhabitant of Yakutia, who came to the exhibition «Jeweller Expo. Kazan».

The theft occurred after the end of the exhibition that recorded by surveillance cameras, all photo and video materials were transferred to law enforcement agencies. On social media, a resident of Yakutia have brought diamonds to the amount of 100 million rubles and discovered the loss only at the airport upon departure from Kazan.

«In Vakhitovsky district court of Kazan remanded in custody in relation to a native of Colombia, born in 1978, who is accused of committing a crime under article «theft in especially large size», namely that on the night of 16 July, while in indoor shopping pavilion, located on the territory of «Kazanskaya Yarmarka»… secretly stole a suitcase in it jewelry,» — said in the message.

Thus, according to the court, the victim suffered material damage in especially large size — for the sum more than 133 million rubles.

It is noted that when addressing the issue of election of a measure of restraint in the form of detention the court considered the arguments of the investigator that the accused declared in the international wanted list, accused of committing grave crimes on the territory of permanent residence has, may abscond from the bodies of preliminary investigation, sought to destroy evidence in a criminal case, or otherwise interfere with the investigation.

According to the court, the defendant is arrested for two month after extradition to Russia.
