About 80% of recruits were unfit to serve in the army for the spring campaign, said in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta, the head of the main organizational-mobilization Directorate of the General staff of the Russian Federation Lieutenant-General Yevgeny Burdinsky.

«At the end of the spring call-an indicator of the validity of citizens for military service for health reasons was 76.7 percent. This is almost a cent above the level of the shelf-life of recruits in the spring of 2016,» said Burdinsky.

He noted that in many respects there has been systematic work regions for disease prevention among youth, development of physical culture and sports. For example, in the Stavropol region, more than 62 percent called out in the spring and summer of citizens fit for military service without restriction. This region is also the leader in pre-service training.

Burdinsky said that the Stavropol region became the winner of competition on the best organization for the training of young people to the army and conscription. Last spring and summer, nearly 53 percent of recruits from the Stavropol territory went to the soldier’s formation is already prepared in the local DOSAAF organizations for any military occupational specialty.

«Here’s another example. In the Central military district the best performance on training of citizens in military professions in organizations DOSAAF and sending actually ready for service recruits — from the Omsk region. There are almost 35 per cent of the recruits went into the army, with the army or naval profession,» said Burdinsky.

He added that last year the winner of the contest for best training of citizens for military service and conscription was recognized as the Kursk oblast. Here spring 23 thousand conscripts of Russians, or 18 percent of the total number of recruits, went to army training for military occupational specialties.
