Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy instructed on Monday the parliamentary Committee to draw up a legislative initiative on the closure of the TV channel «112. Ukraine» and NewsOne.

Previously on the website of the Verkhovna Rada was registered the e-petition demanding the closure of the TV channel «112. Ukraine» and NewsOne. The author of the document claims that these media are anti-Ukrainian activities. The petition has collected the required 25 thousand votes for its further consideration.

«I’m at the conciliatory Council instructed the Committee to prepare proposals — how the proposals will be prepared, I will immediately submit for consideration of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine», — said paruby at the briefing, which was broadcast Ukrainian TV channels.

Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada Deputy of the faction «the Opposition bloc» Yuriy Pavlenko noted that the harassment of media workers in Ukraine threaten democracy in the country. The head of the National Union of journalists of Ukraine Serhiy Tomilenko said earlier that the Ukrainian authorities do not provide adequate protection for journalists and «have learned to create a beautiful picture, which is hidden behind the impunity of» actions against the media.
