Acting Governor of Primorsky Krai Oleg Kozhemyako in the meeting in the government of Sakhalin stated that peace for the region and expressed the hope that the next Governor will continue the begun.

The Russian President last week appointed head of the Sakhalin oblast Oleg Kozhemyako, the acting Governor of Primorye after accepted the resignation of Andrei Tarasenko, who retired from the post after the invalidation of the second round of elections of the head region. Friday Kozhemyako presented to the regional administration.

«I made plans for the future, for the remaining period to complete the job and be accountable to the people for the job. But the unexpected happened. Nobody expected such a development, it was necessary to make a decision – difficult, and I accepted it. I know that it is evaluated differently by society. Needed time to evaluate my work, and this decision. I ask to understand me, that in this situation in another way, I can not do… I worry for the region. I think that you choose a decent Governor that will continue,» said Kozhemyako.

He thanked all those who worked with him in the field and supported him.

The electoral Commission of Primorye informed by recommendations of the CEC of Russia has recognized the election results of the province null and void. Former acting head of the region Andrey Tarasenko, called the decision correct. The candidate from the Communist party Andrei Ishchenko said that he would contest the results in three areas — in Ussuriysk, Artyom and Nakhodka. He noted that the statements of claim prepared, and some of them have been filed. Date of the next elections is not appointed yet, but, as expected, the deputies can approve it on October 16. According to Deputy Plenipotentiary of the RF President in the far Eastern Federal district Grigory Kuranova, elections will be held on 16 or 23 Dec.

In the course of summing up of the election candidates were alternating the lead, after processing 100% of ballots Tarasenko received from 49.55% of the votes, while Ishchenko is 48,06%. Candidates filed complaints about the violations, after which the CEC has sent in Primorye representatives to assess the situation and advised the electoral Commission of the region to recognize the election results invalid, since the analysis of complaints revealed a gross interference in the election campaign with use of administrative resources.
