Famous French singer Charles Aznavour was one of the finest event and a unique creative phenomenon around the world, said in a letter to the head of Rossotrudnichestvo Eleonora Mitrofanova, the Ambassador of Armenia in France Hasmik Tolmajyan.

World-famous singer died on Monday night at the age of 94 years.

It is noted that Aznavour — «Ambassador of culture by vocation and its outstanding creative achievements, he is fully able to realize and diplomatically as permanent representative of the Republic of Armenia to UNESCO».

Mitrofanov, who previously held the post of permanent representative of Russia to UNESCO, added that «as one of the most valuable treasures the memories of personal acquaintance and fellowship with this outstanding and unique man.» She also expressed condolences to the singer.

Aznavour was born in France in a family of immigrants from Armenia. He is recognized as the best pop performer of the century by CNN and Times magazine. For 70-year career, the Maestro has sold 100 million albums, written 1.2 thousand songs, played over 80 roles in movies, released 294 albums and conducted over a thousand concerts in 94 countries around the world.
