The Synod of the Estonian Orthodox Church (self-governing part of the Moscow Patriarchate) issued a statement «in connection with the intervention» Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople in the internal Affairs of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, noting that the actions of Constantinople can lead to serious consequences for the unity of the universal Church.

«Synod of the Estonian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate expresses its deep concern over the dangerous development of the ecclesiastical situation in Ukraine caused by the unilateral actions of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, sent two of his bishops in Kiev to implement the project of creation of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Church. We testify on the experience of the Estonian Orthodox Church that such actions of the Patriarchate of Constantinople taken by him without any agreement with the canonical hierarchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, can lead to serious consequences for Orthodoxy in Ukraine and for the unity of the universal Church as a whole», — is spoken in the statement published on the website ehpc.

«If those plans are carried out, the Orthodoxy of Ukraine will be seriously damaged, and millions of Ukrainian Orthodox believers will face discrimination, being without their temples and monasteries. Anticanonically strongly condemning the acts of the Patriarchate of Constantinople in Ukraine, we fully support the position of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church, as expressed in his statement of 14 September 2018, and also Express our full support to his Beatitude Metropolitan of Kyiv and all Ukraine Onufriy, the bishops, the clergy and the fullness of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church», — said in a statement.
