The acting Governor of the Kurgan region Vadim Shumkov promised to work to rely primarily on the expertise and resources of the region’s residents.

Alexey Kokorin on October 2 left a post of the head of the Kurgan region in connection with the transition to a new job. On the same day Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed acting head of the region Deputy Governor of the Tyumen region Shumkov.

«We must begin with those who live there and work, because so often we start talking about foreign investment, forgetting about the fact that there are people, who for decades gave this territory, this land. They also have the experience and developments, and opportunities and resources. First and foremost, you should talk to them, to consult and find out what they can, what they want and what prevents them to grow more rapidly. And then looking at the external sources of investment and those areas to which you can direct them,» Shumkov said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

He added that he intends first to understand in details what is happening in the region.

«The question of paramount importance is to understand the detail, because we all know what is happening in a particular region, but the most important is in the details, in detail. That’s when you learn the details, then it will be more clear what to do, how to do, who to do it and what resources to use. The only thing,» he concluded.
