Chief commercial officer of Naftogaz of Ukraine Yuriy Vitrenko said the presence in Kiev of «plan B» in case of starting the «Nord stream — 2», according to which the Ukrainian company will demand from Russia compensation in the amount of $ 12 billion. He said this on air of the Ukrainian «Fifth channel».

As noted Vitrenko, Ukraine has already filed an international arbitration suit against Russia for compensation of the damage that will be caused to Ukraine due to the launch of «Nord stream — 2» and idle the Ukrainian gas transportation system after the expiry of the contract on gas transit after 2019.

The representative of «Naftogaz» stressed that in this case it will be «just compensation foregone tariff revenue» and not about the level of the tariff for gas transit as such.

In July, Naftogaz filed a lawsuit against Gazprom in the Stockholm arbitration demanding revision of the tariffs for gas transit from March 2018, claims the company estimated 11.58 billion.

Earlier in December and February the Stockholm arbitration court ruled on disputes between Gazprom and Naftogaz in respect of contracts for supply and transit of gas, requiring in the end the Russian company to pay the Ukrainian of 2.56 billion dollars.

«Gazprom» they appealed in March, and in may demanded the complete abolition of the «transient» solution. In addition, Gazprom filed a lawsuit in the Stockholm arbitration to terminate contracts with «Naftogaz», in force until the end of 2019.
