«Imminent disaster comparable to the famine»

The Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko in the last March said that in the case of the overthrow of the current government, the people expect the «imminent disaster» comparable to the famine.

The overthrow of the government Lutsenko called «a disaster for every Ukrainian,» which will lead to «inevitable troubles for the entire population». As the «example» he mentioned the famine, and at the same time accused the Bolsheviks of the collapse of the Ukrainian national Republic (UNR).

«And after that, the government of UNR collapsed, people were enslaved, millions of them went in the ground soon, in the 30-ies. Everyone knows about the famine — millions of victims,» — said the Prosecutor General.

Three of the Holodomor

In the XX century, Ukrainians have experienced three of the Holodomor, as stated previously, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groisman.

According to Groisman, the famine of 1932-33 was a «methodical destruction of millions of Ukrainians.» However, according to the Ukrainian Prime Minister, such «famines» were few.

«In the twentieth century the Ukrainians have experienced two mass famine of 1921-1923 and 1946-1947, which, according to eyewitnesses and historians, also have signs of ethnic cleansing, and, therefore, was deliberately organized,» — said Groisman, without specifying the facts on which are based its approval.

Politicization of the Holodomor

In December last year, the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Russia has reminded Kiev that the famine 30-ies of XX century was the common tragedy of the peoples of the former USSR, and not only Ukrainians, attempts to present these events as «genocide of the Ukrainian people» are ahistorical in nature.

Declaring the Holodomor as genocide and an act of «totalitarian terror» against Ukrainians, the Ukrainian authorities to achieve the world community’s recognition of the same. In Russia actions of Kiev are perceived as trying to «politicize history», make «distrust and hostility in relations between the two countries, to embroil the peoples of Ukraine and Russia». Earlier, President Poroshenko said that Ukraine is time to adopt the law on liability for denial of the Holodomor and the Holocaust.

«This is a common tragedy of the Russian, Ukrainians, Kazakhs and other peoples inhabiting the Soviet Union and, of course, the greatest humanitarian catastrophe in the Soviet Union, which suffered, according to various estimates, from two to eight million people,» — said the Minister.
