In Portugal broke a large forest fire

A major fire is raging in Portugal, in the municipalities of Sintra and Cascais (Lisbon district).

To extinguish the fire connected more than 700 firefighters, seven aircraft-amphibian, more than 200 pieces of equipment, according to Portuguese TV station TVI24.

Residents of several villages were forced to flee their homes for security reasons, another 300 were evacuated from camping in the natural Park of Sintra-Cascais. Just evacuated about 350 people.

According to preliminary data, injured 18 people, mostly firefighters, said Civil protection.

The fire broke out on Saturday night and spread over the night because of the strong gusts of wind which speed reached 100 km per hour. Two roads in the area closed.

Forest fires regularly rage in the summer and autumn in Portugal, last year the fire killed 106 people.
