«The exhibition is held in the year, which was the Cross year of Russia in Japan, and this is of particular importance. We would like through the masterpieces of the Wanderers (and other artists – ed.) of the late XIX – early XX centuries, which became the «Golden age» of Russian painting, to convey to the Japanese audience the splendor of Russian art not so distant past that the Japanese don’t know enough» — said Akira Gaceta.

The exhibition presents 40 paintings. According to the organizers of the exhibition, the greatest part of them, including the work of Ilya Repin Sadko in Japan demonstrated for the first time. Japanese viewers will be able to appreciate «the Ninth wave» by Ivan Aivazovsky, no less famous paintings of Repin’s «Tolstoy barefoot» and «Sadko».
