The Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill said that no one will force believers to accept the violation of Church canons, and the Russian Orthodox Church will remain faithful to the tradition of the Church.

«Now we are going through a very difficult historical circumstances for our Fatherland, for the whole of Russia and for our Church. Remaining faithful to the Holy canons, faithful to the tradition of the fathers, we affirm and will affirm Orthodoxy in the world! That is our mission, and not let anyone distract us from this path. No one can make us believe that a violation of the canons of the Church can take place at someone’s will. And we remain committed to the tradition of the Church, because we want to be faithful to her children,» — said the Patriarch after the festive prayer in the Trinity-Sergius Lavra on the occasion of the commemoration day of St. Sergius of Radonezh.

In the festive divine services in the Trinity-Sergius Lavra held at the monastery on Sunday and Monday, including numerous bishops and priests attended the Metropolitan of Kiev and all Ukraine Onufry. Also present were representatives of Serbian, Bulgarian and Greek Orthodox churches.

The Russian Orthodox Church, in turn, went to the actual «break diplomatic relations» with the Patriarchate of Constantinople. The Synod of the Russian Church announced a cease commemoration of Patriarch Bartholomew during the Patriarch’s divine services. In addition, a decision was made to exit from the structures, which is chaired by the representatives of the Patriarchate of Constantinople. Relations of the Russian Orthodox Church with Constantinople was in this crisis only once in all its more than thousand-year history.

The Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church, the Synod of bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church abroad, the Holy Synod of the UOC has suspended the service with the bishops of the Patriarchate of Constantinople. In the Russian Orthodox Church noted that none of the local churches does not support the project of Ukrainian autocephaly.
