The head of the public movement for the development of business and friendly relations, «Russia-Crimea-Turkey» Asdan Kaya offered the assistance of the Turkish side to finishing works and decoration of the inner part of the construction of the Cathedral mosque of Crimea.

Kaya said that has visited the construction site of the mosque and came to the conclusion that while the Crimea is under the jurisdiction of Ukraine, on the Peninsula do nothing to Muslims.

«Today equal rights and opportunities for all peoples living in Crimea… Now built a very big, bombastic and beautiful mosque. The mosque should have his historical image, and we can decorate the inner part. We would be brought here from Turkey all the necessary religious objects,» said Kaya reporters.

The mosque is built on the southern hills of the city, near the Simferopol reservoir. According to the project, it will include two parts: the main building (37 by 37 m) with a dome height of 28 meters and a courtyard with colonnades and sadirvan (a place for ablution before prayer). The mosque will have four minarets, each with a height of 50 meters. The timing of completion is 2019. General contractor is the Russian company.

Crimea became a Russian region after held there in March 2014 referendum in which 96.77% of voters of the Republic of Crimea and 95.6% of residents of Sevastopol voted for joining Russian Federation. Crimean authorities held a referendum after a coup in Ukraine in February 2014. Ukraine still considers Crimea its but temporarily occupied territory. The Russian leadership has repeatedly stated that the inhabitants of Crimea democratically in full compliance with international law and the UN Charter voted for reunification with Russia. According to the President of the Russian Federation, the Crimea issue «is closed permanently.»
