The Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to the United States Khaled bin Abdulaziz has denied the information about the murder of a Saudi journalist Jamal Kalkaji in Turkey, according to TV channel Al-Arabia, citing the statement of the Ambassador.

The earlier edition of the Washington Post, citing sources reported that the police believed that the group of 15 people from Saudi Arabia came to Turkey «especially to murder» Saudi opposition journalist. The US President Donald trump has expressed concern in connection with the disappearance of Kalkaji in Istanbul during the visit of the Consulate of Saudi Arabia. The United States urged Saudi Arabia to ensure a thorough investigation into the journalist’s disappearance.

«I usually prefer not to respond to these scandalous allegations, especially when it comes to the welfare of a missing citizen, who devoted a considerable part of his life service to his country. Of course, his family in the Kingdom are very anxious for him and so are we. At Jamal has many friends in the Kingdom, including me, and despite our differences and his choice to go to the so-called «voluntary exile», we still were constantly in touch when he was in Washington» — reads the statement of the diplomat.

According to him, the Consulate is cooperating with local authorities investigating the incident. The Kingdom dispatched a group of security service for a joint investigation into the incident with the Turkish side.

«I assure you that the allegation that Jamal Kalkaji gone to the Consulate in Istanbul or that authorities have detained or killed, it is absolutely not true and based on nothing,» said the Ambassador.

On Wednesday, the Turkish-Arab Association for media reported that Haskari, who works as a columnist American newspaper the Washington Post and lives in the USA, went missing in Turkey after he entered the building of the Consulate General of Saudi Arabia in Istanbul. As reported Аnadolu with reference to the bride of a Saudi journalist, whose name was not disclosed, officials of the consulates were invited on the eve of Hackage for paperwork, and it is the building is not allowed. After five hours of waiting, one of the consular employees told her that Hackage already left, and wait for it no longer need.

According to Saudi press Agency, citing the Consulate General of Saudi Arabia in Istanbul, Kalkaji disappeared after he left the Consulate, and diplomatic mission was cooperating with the Turkish authorities to clarify the circumstances of his disappearance. At the same time, the press Secretary of the Turkish President Ibrahim Kalin said on the Turkish authorities information that the journalist is in the Consulate building. On Friday the crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman al-Saud told Reuters that the Turkish authorities may wish to search the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul.
