The damage to farmers from emergencies in Russia in the current year in 22 regions is estimated at 6.6 billion rubles, said the head of the Ministry of agriculture of the Russian Federation Dmitry Patrushev during a meeting on agriculture development.

According to the Minister, due to adverse weather conditions, the sowing in several regions have moved to 2-3 weeks, which influenced the volume of harvest and harvesting periods.

«As a result of weather conditions, floods or hail a state of emergency imposed in 26 regions. To date, the expert assessment conducted in 22 regions. The amount of damage caused to the farmers, amounted to 6.6 billion rubles,» — said Patrushev. He noted that when forming the Federal budget for 2018 for compensation to landowners was based on funds in the amount of 1.89 billion.

«The Russian government addresses the issue of improving the mechanism of providing support to victims of the disaster to agricultural producers, proposed by the Ministry of agriculture, namely the reimbursement of 100% of the damage the insured and 50% of uninsured farmers», — said the head of the Ministry of agriculture.

He also noted that this mechanism will contribute to the promotion of agricultural insurance. «This will require additional funds in the amount of 1.5 billion rubles. Ask us to support in the allocation of additional funds in the approach that we propose to consider the damages from the disaster,» — said Patrushev.
