Vice-speaker of the Crimean Parliament Oedipus Gafarov invited the outgoing President of the Republic of Srpska (part of Bosnia and Herzegovina), one of three newly elected leaders of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milorad Dodik to visit the Crimea and to mingle with the local population.

Earlier Dodik said in an interview with the newspaper «Izvestia», that he intends to seek recognition of Crimea as part of Russia at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina. According to him, the reunification of the Peninsula with Russia was the result of a legitimate referendum, in accordance with the UN Charter. Dodik also said that Crimea historically belonged to Russia and was part of it and added that he is extremely interested in visiting the Peninsula, especially now that he has become a part of Russia.

«Let Milorad Dodik arrived in Crimea. We are ready to meet, show and tell, to arrange a meeting with the population and with those with whom he wishes to interview,» said RIA Novosti Gafarov.

Gafarov said that the Crimea is visited by many foreign delegations, who see with their own eyes the change and the rate of conversion of the Peninsula.

«Foreign delegations who visited the Crimea, clearly stated that the Crimea — is the territory of the Russian Federation», — said Gafarov.

Crimea became a Russian region after held there in March 2014 referendum in which 96.77% of voters of the Republic of Crimea and 95.6% of residents of Sevastopol voted for joining Russian Federation. Crimean authorities held a referendum after a coup in Ukraine in February 2014. Ukraine still considers Crimea its but temporarily occupied territory. The Russian leadership has repeatedly stated that the inhabitants of Crimea democratically in full compliance with international law and the UN Charter voted for reunification with Russia. According to the President of the Russian Federation, the Crimea issue «is closed permanently.»
