The government never intended to save on raising the retirement age, said at the meeting of state Duma Vice Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Tatyana Golikova.

«Never the President, nor the Russian government aims to save on raising the retirement age. Fundamentally it has always been about something else: we must ensure the growth of pensions above the inflation rate. And in this regard all resources that receive the Retirement Fund (RF) from raising the retirement age will go to increase pensions for current retirees and future retirees that will come out in future years,» she said.

«I categorically do not accept the position of those who expressed that the President amended and as a result, a hole in the Pension Fund. This is not» — continued the Deputy Prime Minister, speaking about the bill preserves the benefits of property tax and land tax within the boundaries of the current retirement age and after its increase.

Now according to the General rules women can retire from 55 years, men — 60 years. In September, the state Duma adopted a law on the gradual increase, starting in 2019, the retirement age for women to 60 years for men to 65 years. Initially, the government proposed to raise the retirement age for women to 63 years, however, Russian President Vladimir Putin has proposed to increase it less dramatically — only to 60 years, as well as to maintain benefits for retirees at the current boundaries of retirement age (55 for women and 60 for men). On Wednesday, the bill Putin on the preservation of tax benefits, was adopted in the first reading.
