In Ukraine prevent the dissemination of objective information on the situation in Crimea, said the official representative of Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.

«Many say — and bloggers and journalists, and public figures, and people who have family here, but they continue to live in Ukraine and will live there — that open your eyes, look what it’s done to the residents of the Crimea in the infrastructure plan in terms of intercultural communication, what are the rights given to the people, which no one even dreamed of, not something that is defended, they are given just the fact of changing the situation in the Crimea in 2014. But these people chop off all the possibilities for dissemination of this opinion and points of view,» Zakharova said at the briefing.

Crimea became a Russian region after held there in March 2014 referendum in which 96.77% of voters of the Republic of Crimea and 95.6% of residents of Sevastopol voted for joining Russian Federation. Crimean authorities held a referendum after a coup in Ukraine in February 2014. Ukraine still considers Crimea its but temporarily occupied territory. The Russian leadership has repeatedly stated that the inhabitants of Crimea democratically in full compliance with international law and the UN Charter voted for reunification with Russia. According to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, the Crimea issue «is closed permanently.»
