The presidents of Russia and USA Vladimir Putin and Donald trump unable to meet again in Finland in the beginning of next year, reports the newspaper Helsingin Sanomat, citing sources.

It is expected that by mid-2019 Finland during its chairmanship of the Arctic Council will hold an Arctic summit, where both leaders invited. According to the newspaper, negotiations with the Russian and American parties have moved so far that deals with the selection of dates.

President Niinistö, who initiated the organization of the summit to discuss issues including global warming, told the newspaper that interest in the event from the American side grew up and «the situation surprisingly began to change for the better.» He also noted that the schedule depends on the guests.

«If the level of potential guests is quite high, the schedule largely depends on them,» — said Niinistö.

Also the Finnish President is confident in the preliminary meeting of foreign Ministers of countries-members of the Arctic Council.

It is expected that President trump will make the decision at the Arctic Council until November, after the midterm congressional elections, which will take place on November 6, the newspaper said.

The Arctic Council, an international forum created in 1996 on the initiative of Finland to protect the unique nature of the North. The structure of the organization includes Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, Canada, Norway, Russia, USA, Finland. Now until mid-2019 to the Council presides over Finland.
