The representative of the Ministry Brexit in Parliament Britain’s Oliver Robbins has made progress in negotiations with the European Union one of the key problems of Brexit — the question of the Irish border, informs television channel ITV News referring to the sources.

«Chief negotiator, Prime Minister of the Ollie Robbins has made significant progress in negotiations with the negotiator of the EU Michel Barnier on this controversial issue of the Irish border… about how to keep open the border between Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland in anticipation of an agreement on the permanent, long-term trading relations, which will mean the same thing. One of the sources said the breach occurred, the other moved in the right direction,» said political expert channel Robert Peston, citing its sources.

He explained that negotiators have advanced on the path of creating such a system in which the disputed regions will remain «within the limits of customs area of the Union, which means no customs checks between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland». In addition, between the main part of great Britain and Northern Ireland will be subject to minimal checks.

The question of the Irish border remains one of the key problems Brexit: the parties have to decide how not to violate the terms of the Belfast agreement and to avoid the appearance of a real border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland after Brexit and at the same time not to violate the integrity of the United Kingdom.

The UK and EU, we need to negotiate the terms of their «divorce,» no later than November of the current year. If this is not done, the agreement on the country’s withdrawal from the Union may not be able to pass all necessary ratifications and will enter into force by the time of «divorce» — March 29, 2019. It threatens the «hard» Brexit — not only a break of Britain with the agreement and the legislative acts which it adheres, being a member of the EU, but the uncertainty regarding future relations with the European Union.

As stated by the head of the European Council Donald Tusk after the September Council of Europe in Salzburg, he may convene an extraordinary summit of EU leaders on 17-18 November Brexit. The decision on whether to hold this meeting, to be held in October. Tusk explained that to convene the November summit is scheduled if it will be able to «finalize and formalize the deal» for Brexit.
