Mexican state oil company Pemex announced on Tuesday the opening of seven new hydrocarbon deposits, which will help to increase production of the Latin American countries.

As stated on the reporting of the new fields CEO Carlos Trevino, deposits are located in the coastal waters of the Gulf of Mexico, and the volume of total proved, probable and possible 3P reserves is estimated at about 180 million barrels of oil equivalent.

Sites are located in zones of Manik (Manik) and Mulac (Mulach) near the shores of the States of Campeche and Tabasco. Assessment of Trevino, the development of two discovered fields Shikin (Xikin) and ESA (Esah) will allow in 2020 to increase oil production by country on the level of 90 thousand barrels per day, and a total of all seven fields can give an increased production to 210 thousand barrels per day.

«The future development of these fields will contribute to the achievement of the objectives of Pemex in the coming years,» said Trevino.

In 2017, Pemex produced an average of 1,948 million barrels per day. In August 2018 production by the company declined by 5.9% in annual terms, to 1,816 million barrels. Over the past six years, the company reduced oil production by 28% in August 2013, the figure was 2,514 barrels a day, noted portal Economista.

The President of Mexico, andrés Manuel lópez Obrador, shall take office December 1, has promised that during his six-year reign, oil production in the country will rise to 2.5 million barrels per day.
