Moscow demands from Kiev to immediately release the head of the portal «RIA Novosti Ukraine» Kirill Vyshinsky, said the official representative of the foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova at a briefing in Koktebel.

According to her, Vyshinsky did their work in full compliance with the laws of Ukraine, but «became a victim of unprecedented for modern Europe campaign of repression against the media.»

Zakharova said that Ukraine close down TV stations, arresting journalists, expelled foreign media, under the pretext of struggle against «information aggression».

The representative of the foreign Ministry called on international organizations, Western governments and foreign journalists to condemn Kiev for prosecution of Vyshinsky and to demand his release.

«Silence equals complicity in the formation of totalitarian information space in the heart of Europe» — concluded Zakharov.

The Arrest Of Kirill Vyshinsky

Wyszynski was arrested in may in Kiev. The journalist was accused of treason and support of the DNI and the LC, to it threatens till 15 years of imprisonment. The journalist is under arrest for nearly 150 days.

At the same time it does not allow Russian consular workers, citing the fact that Wyszynski Ukrainian citizenship.

Vladimir Putin called the situation unprecedented, Moscow has sent to Kiev a note of protest with the requirement to stop violence against members of the press. Action in support Wyszynski was held in front of the Ukrainian Embassy in Moscow.

Also of serious concern in connection with the actions of the Ukrainian authorities was expressed by the OSCE representative on freedom of the media, Harlem Desir.
