Minister of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and Andorra Sergei Lavrov and Mary Ubach on Wednesday presented a book dedicated to the Russian poet, artist and literary critic Maximilian Voloshin.

The book «Andorra and the poet» is a collection of sketches and poems by Voloshin on his journey to Andorra in 1901 and is accompanied by comments of experts, officials, as well as drawings of the poet. The book is written in Catalan and Russian and is a continuation of the series of books «Andorra eyes of travelers», which is produced with the support of the Andorran authorities.

«He described his journey to Andorra in 1901 and, in fact, thus opened to the Russian reader this Pyrenean Principality. Impressions and sketches that you in this edition will see very, very interesting», — Lavrov said at the event.

In turn, UBAK noted that the book was published, «to acquaint the readers of Russia and Andorra with this product (Voloshin), to disseminate cultural knowledge.» She noted that Voloshin in the early 20th century traveled to Andorra, has published his memoirs, including the poem «Tannhauser.»

«Voloshin was fascinated by Andorra, in the first Chapter he describes his journey. In the letter he writes that Andorra is an independent state, as if isolated from the world, he wrote that there are no roads, and they really were at the time. Voloshin writes that it was a perfect country, he was fascinated, because there was all to gain the lost Paradise. In his memoirs, the inhabitants were very hospitable,» said the Minister.

According to her, today the Russian travellers every year in Andorra, there are about 40 thousand, «can enjoy our culture, country, mountain scenery, what Voloshin wrote in his poem of «Tannhauser». I wish this book became a guide for those who wants to visit Andorra,» said Ubach.
