Average check in stores of clothing and footwear in end-of-summer period this year was upset by Russian retailers: the rate of the seasonal increase from August to September was 40% versus 60% a year earlier, data from study «CRF Platform» Sberbank group. While in annual terms this cheque in September decreased by 3%, says the company.

«If we compare the dynamics of seasonal growth of the average check in-fall period, from August to September 2018 — and for the same period in 2017, it is obvious the slowdown in seasonal growth. So, if from August to September 2017 the seasonal increase of the average check amounted to 60% this year, from August to September 2018 – only 40%», — analysts of the company.

Average ticket purchases in the segment of «clothes and footwear» in September of this year amounted to 3800-3900 rubles, 3% down from the same period last year. The number of purchases rose compared to the previous year by 2%. In August the Russians were more generous in annual terms: the average bill surpassed last year’s figures by 10% and amounted to 2700-2800 rubles for one trip to the store. The number of purchases for the year increased by 5%.

The Russians began to stick to the economical consumption model, hunt for discounts and promotional offers to retailers, so actively make a purchase in August than in September, I believe in the company. The seasonal reduction in the number of purchases from August to September last year and this amounted to about 50% mark there.

«One of the peak periods of sales of clothing and footwear becomes August, when there is an active preparation of children for school, business season and the autumn-winter period, which also coincides with the period of the summer vacation season, when there is a need to update your wardrobe. This period of discounts and promotional offers on the part of retailers think the consumer is most comfortable for shopping», — concluded the experts.
