The main index of the stock exchange Brazil Sao Paulo Bovespa on Wednesday showed a serious drop after the statements of the presidential candidate Zaira Bolsonaro on the privatization of several companies.

According to the exchange, the index fell by 2.8% to 83679 points.

On the eve of the right-wing candidate Bolsonaro said in an interview on TV Band that opposes the privatization of the electric company Eletrobras in the part of generating capacity. In its opinion, speech can go only about the privatization of the distribution network of energy. Also Bolsonaro opposed the sale of shares in Chinese businesses.

Thereafter, the shares of Eletrobras fell by 10%, showing its worst performance, according to the portal Economia.

Also Bolsonaro also spoke on the possible privatization of the oil company Petrobras. In his opinion, it is necessary to preserve the «core» of the company in the hands of the state. However, he acknowledged that resources from Petrobras for the development there, which means that oil exploration can have private companies.

The second round of elections in Brazil will take place on October 28. The results of processing of 99,99% of the votes after the first round of right-wing candidate Bolsonaro received 46% of votes and his rival from the Party of the workers Fernando Added for 29.3%.
