The authorities of the Chuvash Republic signed a cooperation agreement with the Ministry of sports of Russia in the framework of the VII international sports forum «Russia — country of sports», told RIA Novosti the representative of the press service of the administration of the President.

According to him, the agreement provides the development base for the region of sports, popularization of mass sports and sports of highest achievements, the construction of new sports facilities and modernization of existing bases and training centres for the teams of the Chuvash Republic up to 2020.

«With the support of the Federal Ministry of sport of Chuvash Republic will be built a regional centre for hockey in Chuvash cadet corps of the Volga Federal district named after Hero of the Soviet Union A. V. Kochetov, and a number of other sports facilities», — said the Agency interlocutor.

According to the head of Chuvashia Mikhail Ignatyev, on the construction of the ice Palace on the basis of the cadet corps in Cheboksary it is planned to allocate 180 million rubles from the Federal budget and 60 million from the national budget.

«Evaluating the possibility of a sports infrastructure of the Chuvash Republic, as well as the growing interest of the region’s residents to the sport, we predict that in four years the Chuvash Republic will be able to increase the share of citizens regularly engaged in sports, to 55%,» — said the head of the region at the signing ceremony of the document.

The press service added that the sides also agreed to hold a hundredth of the championship of Russia on track and field athletics in Cheboksary. Earlier in 2015, in the Chuvash Republic held the European championship in athletics. In addition, in Cheboksary for six years held the championship of Russia on track and field athletics, and in 2017 in the capital region hosted the world Cup of freestyle wrestling among women.
