In the Kremlin, with special attention to the theme of autocephaly in Ukraine, but the state can not interfere in inter-Church dialogue, said the press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov.

The Synod of the Patriarchate of Constantinople has previously stated that it has started the granting of autocephaly churches in Ukraine. It also adopted a decision on the removal of the anathema with the heads of the two non-canonical Church structures in Ukraine — a self-proclaimed «Patriarch» Filaret Denisenko, anathematized by the Russian Orthodox Church in 1997, and Macarius of Maletich (Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church). Constantinople also declared their rights to Ukraine and annulled the obligation of historical writing in 1686, which gave the right of Moscow Patriarch to appoint Metropolitan of Kiev.

«The secular power of Russia, of course, cannot interfere in inter-Church dialogue. She never did and never will do in future,» said Sands, answering the question about whether the «secular authorities» to respond to the decision of the Synod.

He added that because Christianity is one of the professed in Russia of religions, «what is happening in the world of Orthodoxy, is a topic of increased attention from the state». «But on state intervention in these processes it can not go», — concluded the press-Secretary of the President.

Earlier in the Russian Orthodox Church has called the decision of the Synod the legalization of the secession and stated that they will cause catastrophic damage, touching the lives of millions of people not only in Ukraine but throughout the Orthodox world. Communication with Constantinople schismatics destroys the canonical Orthodoxy, the absurdity of the lifting of the anathema with Filaret obvious, said press Secretary of the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill.

UOC, in turn, did not rule out a break communion with Constantinople and the imposition of an anathema on the Patriarch of Constantinople Bartholomew, noting that he believes the decision of Constantinople for the Ukrainian non-canonical churches, deeply hostile act and interference in the Affairs of the local Church.
