The Moscow Patriarchate has called the statement of foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavel klimkina about the religious confrontation «is actually a call for repression» against the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC).

In turn, the UOC said that, treating the Church and historical events, «the Minister allows a number of accusations against the confession, which unites Ukrainians». There has also accused the government of fomenting sectarian strife.

  • Should immediately sever all contacts with the Ecumenical Patriarchate
  • We need to wait for the final solution of the issue of autocephaly
  • ROC should attempt to resolve the dispute by diplomatic means
  • Do not follow the situation

All prosegregation Synod of the Patriarchate of Constantinople stated that it had commenced the granting of autocephaly, and also removed the anathema from the heads of the two non-canonical Church structures, the self — proclaimed «Patriarch» Filaret Denisenko, which the Russian Orthodox Church anathematized in 1997, and Macarius of Miletich, the head of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church.

Moreover, Constantinople declared the rights of Ukraine and annulled the obligation of historical writing in 1686, which gave the Moscow Patriarch the right to appoint the Metropolitan of Kiev.

In the ROC these solutions are called the legalization of the secession and stated that they will cause catastrophic harm to millions of people not only in Ukraine but throughout the Orthodox world. Communication with Constantinople schismatics destroys the canonical Orthodoxy, the absurdity of the lifting of the anathema with Filaret obvious, said press Secretary of the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill.

The UOC, in turn, did not rule out a break in communication with Constantinople and the imposition of anathema on Patriarch Bartholomew, saying that he believes the decision on the non-canonical Ukrainian Church, a deeply hostile act and interference in the Affairs of the local Church.
