The US President Donald trump has announced the release Turkey American pastor Brunson: he will be home soon.

«Pastor Brunson just released. Will be home soon!» said trump in his Twitter account, writing a message in capital letters.

On Friday, the Turkish court of Izmir sentenced American pastor Andrew Brunson to three years one month and 15 days of imprisonment and released him from house arrest. The court credited the time that Brunson has been under arrest, and stripped him of all preventive measures, including a ban on travel abroad.

Reuters with reference to the lawyer of the pastor reported that Branson is likely to return to the United States.

Previously the court three times rejected the appeal of lawyers of Branson for his release from house arrest.

Relations between Washington and Ankara in recent time has escalated, including the case of Brunson, detained in 2016 by Turkish authorities on charges of involvement in the coup attempt and having links with the outlawed Turkey Kurdistan workers ‘ party. In early August, the US Treasury imposed sanctions against the head of the Ministry of justice of Turkey Abdulhamit Gul and interior Minister Suleyman Soylu, accusing them of «serious violations of human rights».

Then the US President said that the sanctioned increase by half the duty on aluminium and steel from Turkey — up to 20% and 50% respectively. This caused the collapse of the Turkish Lira to a historic low. In response, Ankara has sharply increased tariffs on 22 types of American goods, including tobacco, alcohol, automobiles, beauty products, rice and fruits, for a total amount of 533 million dollars.
