Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinian in Public television reported that he had resigned.

He added that he will be acting head of the Cabinet before the election.

The press service of the Armenian President Armen Sargsian announced that he accepted the resignation of the government.

According to the Armenian Constitution, if, after the resignation of the head of the Cabinet, the deputies of the two sessions will not be able to elect a new Prime Minister, then Parliament will be dissolved. However, the Republican party retained the majority in Parliament, and a number of political associations has passed a law that makes it difficult to dissolve the Parliament.

The Prime Minister on 2 October led his supporters to the protest, and dismissed a number of Ministers, party members, supported the bill.

The eighth of October Pashinyan announced that he had signed with the leader of the party «prosperous Armenia» Gagik Tsarukyan a Memorandum on the conduct of the December parliamentary elections.

The opposition opposes this and believes that elections should be held in the spring of 2019 in connection with the need to revise the electoral code, to ensure the presence of observers, to give politicians time to prepare.

In Armenia on April 13 passed protest actions of the opposition, speaking against the election of ex-President and leader of Republican party Serzh Sargsyan as Prime Minister. Earlier in Armenia entered into force amendments to the Constitution, according to which the widest powers will have a Prime Minister. Amid protests Sargsyan issued on April 23, less than a week after the election of the Prime Minister, resigned, and on may 8, the Parliament elected to the post of opposition leader Nikol Pashinian. After that, the Republican party declared itself an opposition force.
