The de-industrialization of the Ukrainian economy, which is happening recently, does not allow cooperation, said President of Russia Vladimir Putin at the plenary session of the Valdai club.

«What happened recently in the economy, in the social sphere? There is a complete de-industrialization of the Ukrainian economy, because virtually no investments… How you can work with the economy, which is constantly shaken, undermined from within the domestic political crisis», — he said.

Speaking of which, the President noted that the achievements of which Ukraine was proud of before in areas such as shipbuilding and aircraft manufacturing, literally destroyed. And accession to the European Union States and cooperation with Western partners do not give positive results.

«Why was it necessary to open Ukrainian markets without giving anything in return? And constantly to demand from the Ukrainian government to increase the domestic prices of the same energy, gas, realizing that purchasing power is zero», — Putin said at the plenary session of the discussion club «Valdai».

However, the President expressed hope to improve relations with the new leadership that comes to power after the current political crisis.

«We need to wait until the end of the political cycle, and I very much hope that it will be possible with new leadership to build any kind of relationship and what to negotiate. We are ready, we want this,» he said.
