Russian engines PD-14, is designed to equip the first two aircraft MS-21-300 will be manufactured and ready for installation on the aircraft before the end of the year, said RIA Novosti Deputy General Director and General designer of the United engine Corporation (part of rostec) Yuri Smolin.

«Corporation «Irkut» all terms are defined. Engines (PD-14 – ed.) for the first two aircraft MS-21-300 will be ready for delivery this year,» said Smolin.

Earlier it was reported that the company «UEC-Perm motors» have signed with the Corporation «Irkut» contract to supply five propulsion PD-14 flight test aircraft MS-21. It was noted that the beginning of flight tests of MS-21 aircraft with propulsion units in the PD-14 is scheduled for 2019. Their completion and obtaining of the type certificate of the aircraft MS-21 with engines PD-14 is planned in 2021.

MS-21-300 — short / medium — haul passenger aircraft of the new generation capacity from 150 to 211 passengers. The first flight was made on may 28, 2017. Obtaining of the type certificate aviation register of the Russian Federation is scheduled for 2019, 2020, through a validation procedure is planned to EASA type certificate. Serial production is planned for 2019. The first operator of the new aircraft is «Aeroflot».

Now the MS-21-300 passes the certification tests. Representatives of the Russian aviation authorities and EASA together with the specialists of Irkut are working on validation of the aircraft in 18 working groups. The participation of test pilots of EASA in the testing of new aircraft is a prerequisite for its validation by the Agency.

PD-14 baseline turbofan engine that is created in a wide cooperation of the enterprises of United engine Corporation for the MS-21 airliner using the latest technology and materials, including composite. Currently the plane is being tested with engines Pratt & Whitney PW1400G.
