Azerbaijani border guards on Friday rescued the crew of an Iranian cargo ship «Nasmeh» in the Caspian sea, requesting assistance in connection with the mass poisoning aboard sailors, three of whom later died in hospital.

Previously, the state border service of Azerbaijan received a report from the state Maritime Agency that the crew of Iranian cargo ship «Nasmeh» requested urgent assistance in connection with the mass poisoning of the sailors on Board the ship. The ship was at a distance of 21 miles from the island of Pirallahi and followed the route Aktau-Baku.

«The patrol ship of a coast guard of frontier service, despite the unfavorable swimming conditions, was sent to the aid», — reported RIA Novosti, the state border service of Azerbaijan.

It is clarified that at about 00.30 (23.30 GMT), the border guards got to the ship and found on Board the seven crew members in serious condition, he was given first aid. Then the ship went in the direction of Absheron port. «To assist the victims were involved in a team of doctors,» — added in Department.

In a press-service of the Ministry of health of Azerbaijan RIA Novosti reported that three of the seven Iranian sailors of cargo ship «Nasmeh» saved by Azerbaijani border guards, died in hospital.

«The rest of the Iranian sailors is currently under the supervision of doctors,» — said the Ministry of health.
