The clergy of the Odessa diocese largely supports the preservation of the existing status of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church, said in a statement on the website of the diocese.

It is reported that on the eve of the Holy Dormition monastery in Odessa, his Eminence Agafangel, Metropolitan of Odessa and Izmail headed a meeting of the clergy of the Odessa diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which was attended by 413 of the clergy. This meeting was held by secret ballot, everyone present was invited to answer the question: «do you Support the preservation of the existing status of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and the position of its Primate, his Beatitude Metropolitan of Kyiv and all Ukraine Onuphrius?»

«To this question 413 of the clergy of the Odessa diocese, who was present at the meeting, 406 answered «Yes», three of the clergy answered no, and four abstained, dropping blank ballots in the ballot box», — stated in the message.

Because of the decision of Constantinople to begin providing non-canonical autocephaly churches in Ukraine, which the Russian Orthodox Church is called the schism, the Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church on Monday announced the severance of communication with the Patriarchate of Constantinople on the canonical territory of the ROC, including Ukraine and Belarus. The Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church has called canonically void, and saw politics in the abolition of Constantinople by the act of 1686 on the transfer of the Kyiv Metropolitanate to the jurisdiction of the Moscow Patriarchate. Metropolitan Hilarion said that Constantinople lost its right to be called the coordinating centre of Orthodoxy. In the Russian Orthodox Church hope that Constantinople will change the decision to give the autocephaly of the Ukrainian Church, and before that he will be in schism.
