EU representatives in the negotiations with the delegation of Turkmenistan in Brussels expressed readiness to assist attraction of investments in construction of TRANS-Caspian gas pipeline, said on Tuesday the Russian government newspaper «Neutral Turkmenistan».
«The EU showed great interest in the construction of TRANS-Caspian gas pipeline and deliveries of Turkmen natural gas to the European market. Negotiators from the European Union expressed readiness to assist attraction of investments to implementation of this important energy project,» — said at the meeting Meredov.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, commenting on the report, noted, with the adoption of the Convention on the legal status of the Caspian sea has created the necessary legal framework for the construction of a gas pipeline.
«Now for the implementation of this essential project needs only the consent of the parties participating in the project and environmental assessment that meets strict international standards», — said the Turkmen leader.
He also stressed that the gas pipeline project provides for the supply of Turkmen natural gas to the European market in the amount of 30 billion cubic meters annually for 30 years.
TRANS-Caspian gas pipeline between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan coast of the Caspian sea needed to connect Turkmenistan to the TRANS-Anatolian gas pipeline (TANAP). The TANAP gas pipeline provides gas supply from Azerbaijan through Georgia and Turkey to the Greek border, where it will be TRANS Adriatic pipeline (TAP) in southern Europe. The most optimistic projections, these pipelines Azeri natural gas to Europe will start to arrive to 2019-2020 years.
