A new regional airline, which plans to create Sberbank and VTB, will receive state subsidies, including for passenger transport and the purchase of aircraft, told journalists the head of Federal air transport Agency Alexander Neradko.

Sberbank and VTB are currently discussing the project of creation of regional airlines. The head of VTB Andrey Kostin said that the new company can be created from scratch or based on one of the existing companies. He also said that investment in the regional airline will be at least one billion dollars, but the project must be implemented on a public-private partnership, because without the subsidies of regional transport, this sector would be unprofitable.

«Applications for the creation of a new airline have been reported, but the Agency is aware that the issue of support for banks, major airlines focused on the development of regional transportation plans,» — said Neradko.

Rosaviatsia fully support on the basis of existing legislation, the establishment of such airline on a public-private partnership and are willing to participate in the necessary consultations on the selection of aircraft types and the development of the route network, including bypassing Moscow air hub. These issues will be addressed together with the KLA and subjects of the Russian Federation, said the head of Department.

«The successful development of a regional carrier will contribute and support in the form of subsidies, as it is now is head of the Department under the provisions of the government of the Russian Federation No. 1242 on the development of regional transportation, or 1212 for the acquisition in leasing of aviation equipment,» — said Neradko.

All existing arrangements for the promotion will be applied, if necessary, they can be improved and completed taking into account the existing experience, he said.
