The authorities and the business community of Utah is ready to develop cooperation with Russian regions and entrepreneurs, said the Russian Ambassador to the U.S. Anatoly Antonov.

Tuesday Antonov to salt lake city met with the administration of Utah, led by Governor Gary Herbert and business circles of the state.

«Just finished a meeting with businessmen, and they all said one thing: «We expect, we want to cooperate with Russia, we are ready for such cooperation», — said Antonov reporters after the meeting.

The Ambassador recalled that in July, Russian President Vladimir Putin at the talks with his us counterpart Donald trump has offered to create a club of «captains of business». «It was about the Federal level. And today we talked about how to create business forums, business Commission at the regional level. For example, Utah and Ryazan, Utah and Izhevsk, and any other city,» — said Antonov.

He said that before the request addressed to him by the Governor of the Ryazan region Nikolay Lyubimov. Utah Governor has praised the idea of cooperation with the Russian regions. In this regard, Antonov expressed hope that representatives of these regions will make visits to each other. According to him, with the same idea and agreed to California Governor Jerry brown, with whom the meeting took place last week.

«The farther from Washington, the better the atmosphere. No toxicity, no Russophobia, no political attacks against Russia. There is a certain lack of understanding of what happens in Washington, there is a desire to interact and collaborate. But, of course, the regions look back at the capital, look to see what recommendations there are,» said Antonov.

Currently, economic cooperation between the US and Russia is severely restricted by numerous sanctions, which the us administration in 2014 introduces against Russian individuals and legal entities. Antonov said on Tuesday that trade between the countries estimated at about 20 billion dollars a year.
